Synthesis Blog

Getting an e-mail from Professor Ludeker seemed helpful, especially when it comes time for the final product. I always find myself reading my paper over and over again until I nearly memorize my essay. Even though I revise my paper, I also like how the corrections that Professor makes by email are helpful to me most because it shows me what is being looked at when grading. Synthesis to me at first seemed difficult weaving many different authors opinions into one paper, but after the revisions in class and these corrections I am more confident in my final synthesis paper.

During my reading, I pointed out a way of speaking that authors use while writing. I never realized how writers use emotional terms to engage the audience into positive reasoning. As I read the persuasive writing about 8 year old Fredrika Keefer who was declined from the San Fransisco Ballet School, I saw a few phrases that the author had modified in order to set the reader on a new level. For example, Ryan says “Watching out for the children’s best interest”. Instead, she could of used abused, but she knows that would come across as a negative message to the audience. Overall, I liked the way that Ryan tweeked her words in order to move the readers toward a surpassing emotional level.
