Ana
Hi class,
I hope everyone had a good firt semester. I personally thought that this first semester was very good except for last week which was an awfull week for me personally. But I hope that overall, everyone learned something new from this class. I learned to be more responsible in this class because when I was in High School, I used to do my papers the day before they were do. This class taught me that after all, I was not a great writer as I used to thought that I was. I also wanted to thank Professor Ludeker for helping us all throughout the semester. I hope the best for everyone and I hope that you all get good grades on the final paper. Bye!
Stressed
I am so stressed. I hope I get a good grade on this paper. I missed peer review on tueday due to traffic but I got my brother to read it. Hopefuly that helped me. I just cant believe that the semester is over. Well I hope the best for everyone. Lets hope we all get A’s.
Peer-review
Hi everyone,
I hope everyone had a good conference. I am finishing up my paper for tomorrow and I am nerveous but I hope that tomorrow you guys can give me advice so I can fix it up for Thursday. Good Luck.
Conferences
I hope everyone had a happy break. Last Tuesday I had my meeting with professor Ludeker and I thought that it was really helpful. I was thinking that I was on the right path but with her help, I realized that I had a lot to work on before the final paper. I hope everyone’s conferences go as well as mine. Good luck on your papers.
Conferences
Hi everyone, well I am having my meeting tomorrow with Professor Ludeker. I think that this meeting will be of great help. I worked on my paper this weekend and I actually found the outline to be very helpful. I had never done outlines before actually writing the paper, but I think this is a really good strategy. As of the final paper itself, I thought it would be much harder, but I am glad that Professor Ludeker made us choose one topic for the whole semester. I have heard that the other English 101 professors, did not do that.
11/12/09
Class today was very helpful to me. I liked how Professor Ludeker gave more examples on how to do our final paper. I like when she takes the time to goaround and gives us more one on one time. I feel that that way, she can truly help us more since we all have different topics. Having said this, I think that the half hour that we are going to meet with her, is going to be of great help.
Synthesis
I am actually having a hard time getting my synthesis started. I have done the reflections but the overall synthesis seems to be toocomplicated. I have already read through the SAW pages and looked over at some examples but I feel like my topic is just not the topic I should of chosen.
Done with Critical Analysis
I am so glad we are finally done with the crtical analysis paper. But now we have to start with our Synthesis. From what I understood from the readings and from class today, I believe that what we are supposed to do for this assignment is the following: a) We neeed to choose 4 of our articles ( they can be new or the ones already used for our critical analysis), b) write about the relationships that can be seen between them, and c) make sure to have a purpose for showing the relationships.
Conclusions
Conclusions can be very difficult. At least I know that they are for me. But last Thursday I satyed and asked for help with Professor Ludeker and she told meto look over page 247- 253 in SAW. There you can find a lot of ways that you can choose from ( that best fits your paper), to write your conclusion. Once you read over thosepages and think about your topic you can narrow down your choices and decide which way is better. This helped me a lot, and that is why i recommend all of you to read it. See you all tomorrow.
“We Are Not Created Equal In Every Way” by Joan Ryan
The first thing I noted when starting to read this piece of writing was that the author was trying to critique an institution and its norms. The author used the main points of the story to inform the audience what had happened in the incident that involved the girl and the dancing institution. The author then gives her opinion on wether she thinks the insitution discriminated the young girl based on her body type. I know that both informing and stating opinions is part of the critizism she is given. That I understand, but what I do not understand is what her actual opinion is if she does have one. I know that she just says that the reality is that institutions do have a right to choose and be selective. Is this her opinion? Or is it that she does not thinks that institution discrimination is the real problem in this case and that the age of the girl plays a more important role in the case?
